Extreme HHO 30 Amp Pulse Width Modulator w/ Built in Cooling Fan

Thank you for the purchase. Before installing your new PWM please read this entire page and familiarize yourself before installation.

Making Connections

  • Before attaching wires make certain power control knob is turned to the lowest setting by rotating the knob counter- clockwise and ensure the unit is turned off by turning the dimmer control knob counter-clockwise until hearing a click.
  • Begin by connecting the twisted pair of wires on the rear of the unit to your hydrogen generator. Red is positive, Black is negative. Do not hook either of these wires directly to the battery or serious damage could result.
  • You will need one 10 gauge or larger eyelet for attaching the battery positive wire to the large screw on the left side of the shunt.  We recommend at least 10 gauge wire for all connections.
  • After attaching the positive wire, attach the single black wire to the negative side of the battery. Do not use a body ground- connect this wire directly to the battery.

Mixing Electrolyte for Use With a PWM

Proper electrolyte mixing is very important when using an HHO pwm. Using excessive electrolyte will increase the conductivity of the water and in some cases damage the pwm.

  • Begin by filling the cell with water only.
  • Power on the pwm and slowly increase the power control knob to the highest setting. You should see very little amperage on the display meter-usually less than 3 amps.
  • Slowly begin adding electrolyte until the meter displays approximately 1/2 the amperage desired. For example, if your cell is designed to operate at 20 amps hot and you are setting it up with water at room temperature, then you want to  begin at 10 amps.  As the temperature of the water warms, the amperage will increase.
  • Once the cell is at normal operating temperature you may need to adjust the control knob to obtain the desired amperage to the hho generator.

Troubleshooting

1. The pwm won't power on.

Make certain all connections are tight and attached correctly.

Attempt to reset the circuit breaker by pushing the button in.

2. The pwm only operates on high speed.

It is very important that each of the wires on the rear of the unit be attached properly. Most pwm's, including ours, operate by pulsing the ground side of the load. Make certain the twisted black wire is attached to the hydrogen generator and not to battery ground.

Blown transistor- Excessive amperage or improperly mixed electrolyte can damage the sensitive electronic components which make up an hho pwm. In most cases the unit will operate on high speed only and will need to be sent back to Extreme HHO for repairs.
